How long does it take to deliver?

We aim to process orders within 2 working days (Monday to Friday).
We post for free by Royal Mail 48hr Tracked delivery as standard.

Heavier (over 4kg) items may be sent using other couriers.
Expedited delivery is available at checkout for an additional cost.

Allgood Farm Expanded Clay Grit is a grey-brown decorative aggregate which also makes one of the key ingredients in many of our specialist soil mixes.

Expanded clay, known as LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) is highly porous, with a large surface area. This allows it to absorb water and nutrients and slowly release them back into the soil (or water, in hydroponic setups).

Since it won’t break down in soil, this grit provides long-lasting structure and can be re-used time after time.

This fine grade LECA works well to provide extra drainage and aeration in many soil mixes, as well as working in hydroponic and semi-hydro applications

How to get the best results with Allgood Farm Expanded Clay Grit

Allgood Farm products are free from pesticides and come in their natural, untreated condition.

Allgood Farm 2-4mm LECA Grit is a lightweight and porous aggregate, ideal for adding to soil mixes or hydroponics systems, or as an attractive pot topper. Expanded clay grit (known as LECA – lightweight expanded clay aggregates) are a versatile material widely used in horticulture. To make them, high quality raw clay is rolled into pellets, then fired in a kiln, causing the pellets to expand and become extremely lightweight, whilst also being durable. Unlike perfectly spherical clay pebbles, our irregularly shaped expanded clay grit offers superior performance by creating more surface area and improving aeration. This unique structure enhances root oxygenation, leading to healthier plants and higher yields. The irregular shapes also improve water retention and drainage, ensuring your plants receive the right amount of moisture without the risk of waterlogging. Our 2-4mm clay grit is also ideal as a washable and reusable substrate for reptile vivariums. We particularly love this grit as a pot-topper for our succulents – but it’s so versatile we can’t wait to see how you’ll use it!
